Sustainability in the maritime industry is a critical focus as the sector seeks to balance economic growth with environmental responsibility in the face of mounting global challenges. Shipping, which facilitates approximately 90% of global trade, has a significant environmental footprint, including greenhouse gas emissions, marine pollution, and biodiversity disruption. To mitigate these impacts, the industry is adopting innovative strategies. Regulatory frameworks, such as the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) targets to reduce carbon intensity by 40% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, are driving these advancements and fostering collaboration across the sector.
